Newsletter for 12-12-11

This week in Youth:

o We will not have Youth this Wednesday. I know that a lot of you have finals this week, so take this week to study and do well on your finals!

o We will have Youth this Sunday from 6-8. We will be progressing with the Advent study of the Journey, Chapter 4. Come and be with us and the entire church as we follow the journey of Mary, Joseph, and our Savior as we prepare ourselves for His arrival!

Future events for FUMC Youth:
Sunday the 18th of December, (that's this Sunday!!!) we will be throwing a Tacky Christmas Sweater party. Please go find yourself a tacky Christmas sweater and come to Youth. You can decorate it, or do whatever you like to it as long as it is still a sweater. We will have a lot of fun judging who has the tackiest sweater, and there will be a prize that will be awarded to the crowd favorite. Come join in on the fun!

Midwinter!!! I would like to get our Youth group back into the habit of going to the Conference Midwinter retreat, so here is the information that is out right now. The trip is on February 24-26 at Lakeview. The cost will be $105 per person. This trip is for ALL youth (Jr and Sr high). The registration is not up yet, so this is all the information that the website is giving. I need to get a base number of people who want to go. There will be a sign up in the Youth room. This way when the registration finally does get posted, we will already have our numbers.

Holiday in the Park is upon us! We will be leaving on Friday, December 16th, right after school lets out and make our way to Dallas. We will be enjoying ourselves at Six Flags over Texas' Holiday in the Park, Laser Quest, and the mall. The cost is $100 per youth. The hotel rooms are already made up and the hotel has already been booked. We are starting to collect the rest of the $100 for this trip. Please turn that in ASAP. If you want to use the money you have raised and collected in your account, but don't know how much you have, please contact Roger. On this trip, you will be responsible for your meals and shopping, so estimate about how much you eat and shop. We will not be eating as a group inside Six Flags, so you can plan for a smaller amount of money for dinner on Friday. If you have any more questions, please contact Adam or Roger.

I seem to remember promising y'all that there would be a lock-in for New Years, so we will have one. Unfortunately, it will not be on New Year's Eve like we had talked about. The reason… New Year's Day is on a Sunday, and I need my sleep for church that morning. Therefore, we will move our lock-in back one day, and have it between Friday and Saturday, December 30th-31st. It will be just like how we worked the one over the summer. Everyone start showing up to the youth room on the 30th at 7pm, and parents need to come get you at 8am on the 31st. If you have any ideas or suggestions as to what you would like to see us do in the 13 hours we will have together, please let Roger know. I ask that everyone bring about $5 to try to offset the cost of the food and drink that we will no doubt consume over the night. Please invite friends for a wild and crazy end to a great year!

For parents!!! At the beginning of this past semester we had a parent's meeting so that y'all could talk me and I could get information about the upcoming events to y'all. We will be having another one on January 15th during Youth Group. This meeting will be similar to the previous one, in that we will talk about my vision for this youth group over the next semester and some business can be taken care of.
